Leave the Kids alone !

I hate politics! I have started hating it even more!

I guess 2 years back, Murali Manohar Joshi had started this saga by announcing that he'll reduce the fees of IIM's. I mean its a good thing that you have got money to give it back to Education Institutes. But why should we try to pour water in a sea. His idea cost BJP lots of votes and was one of the major factors for BJP to lose elections.

Now, it was turn of HRD ministry under Arjun Singh. No matter who is at the government, everybody wants to screw up the better functioning systems in India. Reservations! I am not against them. Reservation for the undergrads is fine though I think the percentage of reservation is killing the General Category students. I guess the reservation should be based on the income and not on the caste. When I was talking admission to the engg college, the general category had a mere 51% stake in the no of seats. Also the students from the reserved category can take admission in Open category. So effectively that percentage comes down.

After sometime, they have added some quota for girls. I am not against it, but 33% is too much when you are Open category Male student. We are left with peanuts. That too girls can take admission through this open category quota!

This is the picture for the admission to the graduation courses. I have seen so many of my deserving friends in Open category suffering due to this system. My funda is simple. Reservations should be there for graduation course, but not to the extent that it will make open category quota less than 70% which I can only dream of as it is not going to happen in next few years! Also there is no reservation for Economical Background Classes. They have tuition fee waivers only in Government Colleges. If government has money to spend, give it to these students. I have seen many of my friends working after college hours to support their engineering education. Even if they have good marks, they can't dream of taking admissions to the better colleges if these colleges are not in their city. Even if government is giving them education loans, still its fine with them. I have seen most of the banks not able to give them education loans because of their existing economical status.

Lets go back to the post graduate studies. I strongly feel that there should not be any reservations for these courses. Graduation is a need and post-graduation is a luxury. If you deserve to go to IIMs/IITs for post grads, you are capable of earning and saving money 2 lakhs per annum which these institutes are taking. Also banks will ask no questions to give you loan for these institutes. Better work for 2-3 years, save money and go to post graduation.

Also if the seats are reserved in these premium institutes of India, the quality of education will be same as those hundreds of private management schools in India. But somehow, the person, who has never taken a heat of taking admission to these colleges won't understand the problem of doing this. He should make his own son/daughter or grand son or whatever to get admission into these colleges and then only this person can understand what it means! He is just targeting his vote bank. Those who want to see India as a bright country in future need to dump the leaders like this person in the Arabian sea.

I have few suggestions for this person to increase his vote back :

1) Reserve the seats as per Mandal in the Buses, trains.
2) Reserve the standings in the Bus Queue at Andheri Station as per
Mandal.
3) Reservations in each and every kind of line in the government
offices.

This will reduce the time in line and will give you more votes.
You’ll have plenty of ideas of this sort. Please give them to this Man! Hopefully he will implement these ideas and will leave the kids alone!!

So just a small advice : Politicians, leave the kids alone!

Kids,
Go WEST!!!!
